About KoreanSchool.com
What this is
KoreanSchool.com is a free, browser-based course for people starting Korean from nothing: teenagers and adults learning on their own for travel, for work, or because they like Korean culture. It covers the alphabet and beginner Korean in short lessons; the lesson list shows exactly what is there.
Written for English speakers
The explanations start from what English does. Where Korean works the other way round — the verb at the end, particles instead of word order, levels of politeness — the lesson slows down and gives you extra practice on exactly that point.
How the Korean is checked
Spellings, standard pronunciations and romanization are checked against the National Institute of Korean Language's Standard Korean Dictionary and its published rules for pronunciation and romanization. Lesson order follows the general shape of the King Sejong Institute beginner curriculum.
Audio
Every example has audio at two speeds. The slow version is spoken slowly, not a stretched copy, so the sounds and the links between syllables stay natural. If a clip sounds wrong, tell us.
Free, with no account
There is nothing to sign up for and nothing to pay. Your progress is kept in your own browser, and you can export it or delete it whenever you like.
